The 3rd Grade Unit of Study is the Westward Expansion. The Westward Expansion grew the borders of the United States to the West Coast and opened up rail travel for goods AND people. This expansion assisted the United States in becoming one of the most prosperous countries in the world.
American Footprints-Second Unit of Study for Third Grade (approximately 10 weeks), December-February
American Footprints, the second unit of study for third grade, is about great Americans who left "footprints" on America, thereby changing, defining, and moving American forward to becoming a better place for its citizens.
The students are discovering not only discovering who these Americans are and their impact on American life as they know it, but qualities of greatness. Through the use of role play, research, hands on creation, and technology, the students are learning how they can become great Americans and use their skills and interests to become the next great American to leave their "footprints" on society.

Week of January 20, 2014: SAT words-write the definitions and use each word in a sentence; there will be a spelling and definition quiz this week in each class.
